Why Aren’t My Calls Routing Through Slang?
Last updated: July 14, 2025
If calls to your restaurant are ringing straight to your team and not being answered by Slang, don’t worry—this guide walks you through why and how to fix it.
There are two ways Slang handles calls for your business:
Option 1: Slang AI Phone Number
Option 2: Call Forwarding from your existing number
To troubleshoot, first figure out which setup your restaurant is using.
🔍 Step 1: Identify Your Setup
Option 1: Slang AI Phone Number
Slang has issued your business a unique phone number that guests call directly.
How to check:
Log into I Love Slang
Look in the top-left corner for the dropdown with your business name
Check the phone number listed there
If that number matches your Google Business Profile:
You're using Option 1: Slang AI Phone Number
Test it out:
Call that number—Slang should answer
If it doesn’t, open a support ticket by emailing us at support@slang.ai and we’ll look into it
Option 2: Call Forwarding
If the number in your Slang dashboard does not match your Google Business Profile, you’re using call forwarding.
This means calls are going to your original number first, and then forwarded to your Slang number.
Test it out:
Call the number listed in your Slang portal — Slang should answer
Call the number on your Google Business Profile — if it rings directly to the restaurant, call forwarding may have been disrupted
This can happen if:
Your phone provider made a change
Forwarding settings were removed or reset
How to fix it:
Re-establish call forwarding from your restaurant phone number to your Slang AI number
