Troubleshooting Phone System Issues

If you're experiencing problems with your Slang phone system, such as calls not coming through, the system not picking up, or other interruptions, here are the steps to get support and resolve the issue quickly.

Immediate Support

For urgent phone system issues that are affecting your business operations:

  1. Contact Slang Support immediately at (855) 938-1420

  2. Submit a support ticket through your customer portal with "Phone System" or "Urgent" in the subject line

  3. Include your business phone number and a brief description of the issue

Common Phone System Issues

The most frequently reported phone system problems include:

  • Calls ringing but system not picking up

  • No incoming calls coming through

  • System going silent after ringing

  • Call forwarding not working properly (including transfer loops where the AI bot indicates it's transferring but calls return to the prompt instead of reaching the intended recipient, or calls that ring once and immediately hang up)

Transfer Loop Issues

If your AI bot indicates it's transferring calls but they loop back to the prompt instead of reaching a live person, this typically occurs when:

  • Your main number is forwarded to Slang

  • Slang is configured to forward back to the same main number

This creates a loop where the call is passed back and forth between systems. To resolve this issue, update your phone number settings to use a different transfer destination number that doesn't create this loop configuration.

Single Ring Hangup Issues

If calls ring once and immediately hang up, this may indicate that your transfer destination number is not in service or unreachable. Before contacting support, verify that:

  • Your transfer destination number is active and working

  • You can successfully call the transfer number directly from another phone

  • The number hasn't been disconnected by your phone provider

What to Include in Your Support Request

When contacting support about phone system issues, please provide:

  • Your business phone number

  • Specific symptoms you're experiencing

  • How long the issue has been occurring

  • Whether multiple people have tested and confirm the issue

  • Details about your call forwarding setup and transfer destination numbers (if experiencing transfer issues)

  • Whether you've verified that your transfer destination number is working and reachable when called directly
