What is Fishbowl, and why does Slang integrate with it?

Fishbowl is a GRM (Guest Relationship Management) platform used by restaurants to manage guest data, including contact information, visit history, and marketing preferences. Slang's Fishbowl integration connects that guest data to your call handling experience, so your team has more context when a guest calls — without any manual lookup.


What guest information does Slang pull from Fishbowl?

Slang syncs the following fields from Fishbowl:

  • Guest name

  • Birthday and anniversary

  • Email address

Guest records are matched using the caller's phone number.


Where does the Fishbowl data appear in Slang?

Premium subscriptions: Guest data from Fishbowl shows up in Smart Inbox. In the flat (list) view, you'll see the guest's name and an email icon if an email is on file. In the drawer (expanded) view, you'll see the full guest profile including email details and all applicable tags. Callers will enjoy streamlined booking.

Core subscriptions: Guest names only from Fishbowl will populate in the Guests tab. Callers will enjoy streamlined booking.


Does Fishbowl work across all of my restaurant locations?

No. Fishbowl does not aggregate guest data across multiple concepts or locations — each location's data is managed separately within Fishbowl. If your group operates multiple restaurants, each location's Slang account will need its own Fishbowl connection.


What happens if a caller isn't in Fishbowl?

If no match is found in Fishbowl for the caller's phone number, Smart Inbox will display the call as usual without additional guest data. No action is needed — it simply means that guest doesn't have a record in your Fishbowl account.


Does the integration support Loyalty Program data?

Not in the current version. Loyalty Program data is being considered for a future update, pending further customer feedback. If this is important for your restaurant, let your Customer Success Manager know — your input helps shape what we build next.


Is there an additional cost for the Fishbowl integration?

The Fishbowl integration is available as part of the Core and Premium plans. Contact your Slang account manager if you have questions about your current plan or want to add the integration.


Can Slang write data back to Fishbowl?

Not in the current version. The V1 integration is read-only — Slang pulls guest data from Fishbowl to display in Smart Inbox. The ability to write data back to Fishbowl (for example, recording marketing opt-ins) is planned for a future release.
